Feche wrote a 4- page summary of the Bible for a spiritual formation class he's taking. It was droll and fun and covered pretty much the whole she-bang. He is witty and smart. Like his Momma ; )Another paper complete for American Lit on House of Mirth. He's "reading" The Great Gatsby by CD and having a great time drawing as he listens. Chemistry continues to move along and consume a great amount of time. Algebra plods. Latin could be dead on the side of the road.
Cub and I had a great time diagramming sentences together for his English homework. He continues to write one paper a week and his distress at doing so is almost non-existent.That alone has been worth the course. He is also parsing sentences. I'm learning right along with him. True confessions: I'm a recovered grammar-phobe.What really broke the fear for me was Nancy Wilson's Mother Tongue. Miss. R took it to a new level with Mary Daly's (our irl friend who is not only brilliant but humble and Godly and a truly wise woman) The First Whole Book of Diagrams.
Flower continues to breeze through math and has been having a marvelous time with Proper Manners and Health by Rod and Staff. I know I keep writing about it but it is really lovely.

KB henna'd my hair. It is red. I love, love, love it. Even Viking Man is o.k. with it (and he really only likes my hair au natural and as long as possible), though he did mention this morning that, "while I know woman need to do 'fun' things, I look forward to the day when your hair returns to it's natural beauty." Seriously. He said that. Pretty sweet.*3*
If you need a laugh, watch this. (disclaimer: there are a few swear words and an illusion to drugs). Oh, I so relate. My kids watched it with me and at the end, almost in unison said to me, "It's YOU!. *4*
Have been writing an essay on my Grandpa's cottage and the great times we had as a family there. It's been good to remember my Grandparents and aunts and uncles and how much they adored my sisters and I. I'd forgotten. I've felt buoyed by the memory of their love all week.*5*
My knee is better but not healed. Will probably go in for an M.R.I. on Monday. So long sweet tax return. It was nice thinking about hiring out the 2nd floor sanding.*6*
I was so discouraged about my knee this morning. I woke up with a roaring headache and unable to make it to the kitchen sink because of my knee. I actually started crying about it, feeling like a baby the whole time. We have a friend, Travis, who is wheel chair bound. He didn't start out that way but despite such a terrific loss he is always smiling. And positive. And eager to tell about and hear about the good things God is doing. And I'm trying to get through my thick skull that I can have 2 competing thoughts in my head at the same time. It's o.k. to be discouraged about the pain in life. It's o.k. to be thankful for all that I have at the same time.

Test Anxiety.1 Peter 5: 8-10 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
If you are a Christian, committed to the Lord, Satan is working to kill you. It is personal. It is specific. If attempts to kill you fail, he will cripple you, confuse you, steal from you. He hates you. But it is also a truth that the closer you draw to the Father, the more you will share in His glory and in His suffering. It's just a paradoxical spiritual fact.
We're in the battle. We are taking the test. I must confess I suffer from test anxiety.
How was your week? How were you tested?
